I used to live in NYC and would read every time I took a subway- So, needless to say, I've read quite a few novels by now... My favorite author of all time is John Irving. I strongly recommend A Prayer For Owen Meany - Not sexual or violent in the least! A Widow For One Year is also excellent, but as I recall, it may have 1 love scene in it (though, it's really not that bad at all)... And The World According to Garp is also excellent.... I can't recommend John Irving enough- They're excellent books for all ages, completely no violence, and he rarely has sexual content in them.

Has your group read The Kite Runner? It's a good book. Another - Memoirs of a Geisha -- or The Red Tent. Three excellent books.
