I am a recovering drug addict, did it all but liked pain killers the best. I got my wisdom teeth pulled today and since I came out of anesthia I feel kind of messed up. I can still say I've been sobr for year and half right? I didn't take the loritabs asked for ibuprofen.

Congratulations !!!!! Good job.
You are well on your way if you can deal with oral surgery and only use Ibuprofen. Not only haven't you cheated, you have set a very good example for the people you will be helping and sponsoring soon....as you get stronger.
Call your sponsor and go out and celebrate with some CHOCOLATE.....as soon as you can chew.....or maybe a cold milk-shake, now.
You've done GOOD !!!!

You will be fine with Tylenol or ibuprofen. I applaud you for asking for the ibuprofen instead! When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, they took all 4 at one time. I have an ulcer, so I can't take painkillers. I got along alright with Advil. You can do it, too. Remember, the pain will only last a couple of days. You should be very proud of yourself!

No itsnot cheating or relapsing, unless you purposely took something to alter your mind or get "high". Iam also a recovering addict and have been in the program for 4-5 years now. As long as you had to take what you did by "doctor" your ok. Dont worry. You didnt take the other stuff right? I just had dental work too, my dentist perscribed Ibuprofen for me. If you feel uncomfortable taking anything, just let your doctor know. And if he for any reason doesnt get it, tell him you are an addict, in recovery! Take care.

I don't think you can call that cheating. Now if you took the lortabs abusively and then lied to your dentist to get more, now that would be considered cheating. But you still might have to take them eventually. Most dental pain will not respond to ibuprophen because all it does is affect the swelling, Lortab actually blocks the pain receptors in the brain at the central nervous system. If you're still feeling hesitant about taking them have someone close to you monitor your intake. Congrats and good luck.

Nope... It is not considered cheating and taking the Ibuprofen for the pain rather than the harder stuff is a testimony of your will to do the right thing. Good for you and keep going.

yes it is cheating ..no matter what the situation is you are still gonna take the drugs ...if you do you could be hooked again and have to go back in drug rehab..the pain will go away in a couple of days...until them just take ibuprofen or aleve .. aleve works good on those sorta pains.. or maybe Advil gel caps .. i took them for my own toothache they work great .

You can be proud. The only drug you took was proper and you are still clean.
Take the Ibuprofen as you need it.
You can be proud of yourself and what you are doing for both yourself and your children.

if there's a reason to take them, then do, don't suffer through the pain... but ask for a limited supply and no refills, you have done great with your problems!!!! BUT if you think you won't be able to stop, then you have done the right thing by refusing the meds, hope it all works out well for you, good luck with your sobriety
