well i know that it is going to be $600. and will be realesed in november, but if you were going to get it why? e.g. the technology, graphics, games, or what? as for me i just like the playstation "saga" (saga? lol) but how bout yall??

PS3.. hmm..
Let's see. I have the choice of a $499 or a $599 version. The $499 is like the Xbox 360 core version, which pretty much is the system minus everything else. The $599 version has everything such as SDI support, memory stick support, Wi-Fi support, and a few others. However, since I don't have the latest HD tv, I most likely will not be able to use the PS3 to its fullest potential.
Now let's look at the Blu-Ray. A new format that is competitng with the HD-DVD. In either case, an upgrade/improvment to the current format. In another case, it could miserable fail to catch on. Sony did not spread the UMDs as much as it hoped it would with the PSP. The same could happen and we'd be pay premium prices for something that won't last too long.
Lastly, let's look at the controller. Tilt-sensitivity. Hmm.. sounds too much of what the Nintendo Wii has. Besides that the controller is basically the same as the previous ones. Sadly, I was actually hoping to try out the Boomerang controller they previously shown as I don't like the layout of the Dual Shock.
So.. no PS3 for me unless something catches my eye.. like several big price drops.

I do. For all of the reasons you mentioned (tech, graphics, games, etc.). But...i'm not paying $600 for one, that's unreasonable. Especially considering i'm not really interested in Blu-Ray. As for the neutered $500 version, is ANYBODY seriously considering getting one?
I'll save my cash for a couple of years and *somehow* make due with my modded Gamecube, Xbox, and PS2. I may even pick up a Wii, we shall see.

I see no reason to get a ps3. Too expensive. You could get a PC for that amount. I'm only waiting to see if Nintendo's Wii will be better than the Xbox360. The PS3 priced itself out of the market. Besides that, Final Fantasy will be coming out on Xbox 360.

i am pre ordering it with 2 games a month before it comes out. i already have a little more than 800 dollars saved up for it. i later this year, i might get the wii.
