It means that the editor of the Times showed his arrogance by ignoring the laws of the land. He published information during a time of war that will aid enemies of this country.

He is an elitist as he believes that the press is above the law and can do whatever they want, regardless of the implications on us.

The left wing agenda is the propensity for this type of thing to happen again and again, led by the left-wing media of this country.

arrogant = better than everyone else. elitist = since we know better than everyone else we should rule. left wing agenda = political agenda supported by the socialist left in the United States. And it does not surprise me that someone would say this about Al New York Times.

It means nothing. It's a term used to dissuade people from thinking about a non-conservative point of view.

Most politics these days is just name-calling. Use those terms and people will be afraid to consider the idea for fear of being associated with something "arrogant, elitist, and left-wing".

Well, part of the criticism of liberal politics is that it seems liberal solutions seem to rely on bigger government, or to appeal to the government to solve all of our problems.

"The government knows what's good for you better than you do," kind of sums it up.

As liberal are perceived, that means, "WE know what's good for you better than you do"

Old-style conservative politics (they're all gone now) insisted that the individual knew what was best for hm, and was better able to take care of most of his problems without the interference of government.

It was more like, "If I'm not hurting anyone, leave me alone."

So, an arrogant, elitist, left wing agenda would be, for example, "You yokels in local government don't know how to educate your children. We, of the National Government, shall decide what will be taught in your schools and when."

Or, "A lot of you hicks out there look pretty scary to us, so we, of the National Goverment, are going to look at you pretty hard if you decide to exercise your right to freedom of movement about the country. WE shall decide if we're going to let you on an airplane."

Many Liberals (Left-wingers) are perceived to be upper crust such as John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Hollywood people. They tend to talk down to us whom they believe to be the common people, and God forbid that you live in the South or Midwest. If you are a member of the N.R.A., Christian, Republican, Pro-Life, middle aged caucasian heterosexual male, you are a lost cause. Gosh! I just described myself! Guess I won't run for office.
