I am a male, as a girl would you avoid someone who has a thick accent?

Absolutely not! Accents (generally) work in a man's favor... I'm a scientist and I work with a lot of foreign people- so I daily hear accents ranging from Italian, Russian, Brazilian French, etc, and I love them! My boyfriend is from England, and I'd be lying if I said the accent didn't play at least a partial role in the initial attraction!!
Next to English accents, I think Russian ones are especially hot....
Of course, some accents are more attractive than others....
It really depends on the guy: if it's a hot guy and a hideous accent, the accent can be overlooked-- but a hot accent probably isn't enough to get a hideous man a date! A normal looking (ie: not overly attractive nor hideous) guy, at least with me, has a better chance of getting my attention if he has an accent than if he was just plain ol' American! :)

I don't avoid people with accents, but I usually cannot speak with them for very long. I can't even watch Trainspotting (I have to ask every 5 seconds what they said!). There's nothing wrong with the other person, I just cannot process the accent in my head. I don't know why...

No. It does get frustrating sometimes to try and understand a person with a thick accent. It's ok if they speak slowly and try to compensate for the accent but when they have the attitude of "you're racist if you don't understand me" I get turned off.

I avoid ppl with Boston accents and New Jersey accents.

Not necessarily! I LOVE British accents! I don't know why.... but I melt inside when ever I hear a good looking guy with a British accent. I can't control it! =) It depends on your accent. I guess it can be cute/sexy, but it can also get frusterating if you can't understand them.

Sometimes just because I cant understand them and dont want to say HUH a million times it makes me seem rude. At work I have to answer the phone and I will transfer the call if they have a thiiiiick accent.

I love people with accents!I find them quite exotic! I guess the fact that I am one of them means that I am very understanding when it comes to language issues.
