I'm afraid you're the one deluding yourself, dear. Sullivan may be a gay conservative (a perfectly rational identification), but he is not a member of any party. In fact, he endorsed John Kerry in 2004 because although he agreed with Bush on many issues, he thought he was not only conducting the war ineffectively, but he was nott conservative enough on domestic issues.
One's sexual preference does not have to correlate with a specific political ideology. Most gay conservatives are closer to libertarians than Republicans. They tend to believe in strong defense, states' rights, gun rights, free speech, low taxes, smaller government, and tough criminal enforcement, just like any other conservative. They tend to differ with other conservatives on the moral/social issues of marriage, family, obscenity, etc. Not all conservatives believe exactly the same thing, just like liberals, libertarians, and authoritarians differ on many issues.
