I have identical twin girls..their names are Jaedyn and Alexis...I used to dress them in the same type of outfit but different colors or patterns etc...they stopped letting me do that when they turned 3 years old...either way they will develope their own identities and personalities...do what you think is best not what other people think you should do...what ever works for you

I have a friend with identical twins who are 4. She doesn't dress them the same, but whenever I see them (not very often), they are dressed in a way that they seem to go together without being *too* "cutesy". For instance, they will both wear knit dresses with embroidery on the front, but one will be in gray with a kitten, and the other will be in red with a butterfly. They also have names that are not similar.

I think it's a personal decision. I don't see a problem with *occasionally* dressing them alike (if you like the idea), but if you *always* dress them the same, it gets to be a bit much. They may also feel like you don't consider them separate people but just copies of each other...

I have boy-girl 18mos. twins Jonathan Elliott & Audrey Noelle.
I dressed them alike every once in a while (matching boy-girl outfits, not 2 dresses, obviously). My best friend has 3 yr. old boy-girl twins and never dresses them alike. She thinks they are individuals and should look different. I say do what you want to do. They're your kids. Anyway, congrats on your twins. Don't worry, you'll get some real sleep again sometime soon!!

Dressing them alike is one thing, and it's acceptable and reasonable. But I personally think that naming them the same is just crazy. It's enough you might not know which one is which by their looks, but even when calling them having them both answer is just taken a bit too far. I don't have twins, but this is my opinion.

I had twin boys.I named them Dustin and Justin. I wish I hadn't named them names that matched, because if they were in the other room and I called them they would both come. So we started calling them D and J if they were in the other room. I also dressed them alike when they were little, but I did dress them differently when they started school. Their 19 years old now and they both are as different as night and day, but they are still good guys.

I'm currently pregnant with twins - and have no intention of dressing them alike! I'm also not naming them the same.

But, these are my 6th & 7th children. None of my kids dress alike, have rhymy names, nor do they have names that are similar whatsoever.

I agree, you should give each child their own identity. In my extended family twins are common, and we also have a set of quads... identical too. I have never had children but if I had twins I would give and encourage them as much of a separate identity as they would want to have. People look at twins as being cute. I think they feel like circus freaks after awhile because of that.

I have2 year old identical twin nieces, Jenna and Emily (my sister's) and 15 year old fraternal twin nieces, Barbara and Maureen (my sister-in-laws).

When my sister was carrying her twins. I asked several co-workers who have or who are twins for advice and put together a little booklet for my sister. They all recommended that we celebrate the differences of the children
