The short answer is 'pectoralis' (pec's, for common slang)...
The more detailed answer is that there is more than just 1 general muscle per region of the body (arms, leg, trunk, etc.) Rather, each region has several different muscles, some more superificial than others, and each with its own distinct function. There is the pectoralis major and the pectoralis minor. The pectoralis major is the muscle that you can see on someone who built up their chest. The pectoralis minor lies underneath the pect. major and on the outside, more in the armpit area.
