this is a very controversial topic because there is no correct answer. i believe that abortion is okay when speaking of rape; other than that stop having unprotected sex! people should assume their responsibilites and accept the consequences that follow their actions.

Here are some questions I think prolifers should consider (consider... it is not a demand, just a request):

Is there really the option of adoption if the unborn fetus is known to have genetic defects that cause mental and physical deformities?

When a woman has a miscarriage, do you believe God is being immoral and taking an innocent life?

What about when a woman did use protection, can you say it's her "fault?" Her "consequence" did not follow her actions.

What if there was a health risk for you or the fetus, or both? (like a bleeding disorder)

Here is my personal OPINION:
DNA is not life, you can extract it from any human and put it in a jar... it is not a baby. It can, however, make a life... but that takes time. It even takes weeks before a future baby's heart develops and starts beating. I believe that for something to be alive it should be able to live on it's own...be self sustainable... and this can happen as early as 6mo. into a pregnancy. This is not my excuse for people, just my opinion on the DEVELOPMENT of life.

I think what hurts many people is not what the embroy actually is (duh, an embryo) but that what it could become. The fact that someone could consider destroying what will BECOME a beautiful bouncing baby is horrific to many. I think that this feeling, along with resentment to someone who would do it, is valid but I don't think it is just.

Let people do what they think is right. How can you judge them? It is not our place, that is only to be done by God.

Regardless of it being right or wrong/ legal or illegal abortions will go on; they have gone on for centuries. The question then becomes should it be done in a back alley with a wire hanger (okay, i got a little drastic there) or with a doctor in a clean, safe environment.

Just so you all know, I read almost every answer. I listened to your opinions and even noted down some of the websites you listed (both life and choice). I just hope that you all can also read my response with an open mind and an open heart.

I believe that there are times when an abortion is a tragic necessity. When a women is brutally raped, when a girl is the victim of incest, when the fetus is horribly deformed and cannot be saved, when a female is extremely young (say 12 or younger) or in pre-menopause, abortion could be considered. But I think it's completely wrong to abort a child for any other reason! And late term abortions should be completely illegal. If a woman has already carried a baby 5 or more months, she's already more than half way through her pregnancy. She should carry that child to term and then if she doesn't want it, put it up for adoption.
I have no compassion or understanding for a female who uses abortion because she's "not ready to have a child", "her boyfriend will leave her", "her man doesn't want her to have it", "the timing is not right", "it will affect her job", "she can't afford it", "she's all alone", "her parent's will get mad", "she's not married", "she's not sure who the daddy is", etc. And the ultimate excuse I heard, "I don't believe in adoption"! What?! Killing your own fetus is okay but putting your child up for adoption isn't?!!! Talk about crazy!
Abortion is something that only the pregnant woman can decide upon. It is her body, her life and her soul.

IT IS WRONG!! Even if you are raped, you should still have the kid. The babies that are aborted could have found the cure to AIDS, cancer, world hunger...they could have been the next Einstein! There is this thing called ADOPTION. Yes, I know that there are a lot of kids that are in the system right now...they were either crack babies, they have problems, or they are old, or are in another state. Women these days get pregnant and keep doing all the bad things that they had been doing for a while and when they have the kid it has major problems and don't want it.
If you dont want to deal with the consequences, then dont spread your legs!!!

Abortion, in my opinion is absolutely WRONG, no matter what the situation. No human being needs to be killed off because of the way it happened. It's like the saying, none of us asked to come here. I also agree with you that people should assume their responsibilites and accept the consequences that follow their actions. How could someone kill off a baby whether he/she is fully developed or not. This may help you see things in a different light because I need you to know this: In the times of slavery, slaveowners raped their female slaves, and to stop society from knowing what was done--the slaveowners, a general, a doctor, and a priest would gather together around the slave and yank the baby out of her body, leaving her in pain and the child to die (since it wasn't the baby's time to come out), you could imagine what this could have done to her insides and how the slaveowner expected her to work the next day. The baby could have been the slaveowners or the slave's husband but that wouldn't have mattered to them.

Abortion is never right in any situation. Now before you start disagreeing with me read this. Has two wrong ever made a right? Rape is a terrible thing I agree but does killing your child make it better? Even if your kid is going to have a bad father or a very young mother its not ok! Also you can always give your baby up for adoption or let your parents take care of the baby (if your to young). And in case of the mothers health, i've heard of mothers who had that problem and all the times i've heard the mother is willing to die to let her own child into the world and remember this the fetis in the womb is just as human as you or I are. 1st let me illustrate it in the contradiction of the concept.
Many times one will tell you a story like this, "80 people on a plane, it suddenly explodes, 70 ppl die, 10 live, Why would God allow that??? He is an Immoral God! What kind of a God is this?

If indeed God did allow that and He CHOSE for it to happen for a purpose, then why is it that when God makes that decision your calling his choice immoral. But when you have the oppurtunity to make the decison when somebody lives within you or dies within you, your calling it your moral right. What's the explination for that?

Any geniticist will tell you that from that moment of conception that "thing" is a life. America will have to answer "What are we going to do if it is a life?" I have heard personally a woman who went to have one, and told the story of when she went, she didnt know she had twins. The doctor realized it the middle of it and told her the other child "sensed" something and tried to move away from the machine ready to destroy it.

You see what no one tells you is that after an abortion is done, the emotional problems come. I have experience it many, many times. It gives some a tremendous sence of guilt and marrages are falling apart as we speak.

To all those who have had one, dont belive what people say about the Christians, that they will "hate you" and "persecute you" but trust in the words Jesus said "Come all those who are tired and I will give you rest. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!". Granted there are some radical people out there but my Jesus taught me to love the sinner but dispise the sin. While none of us can go back and make a new beginning all of us have a chance now to make a new end.........

Agreed completely! If you choose to have sex, you should be ready to stand up and face the possible consequences, instead of taking the easy way out because you're selfish and weak. Also, if you have ever seen photos of babies aborted at 7 or 8 weeks you would be horrified into thinking negatively about abortion. Despite common belief (and mine before I saw the pictures) they are not "blobs of jelly," they are tiny human beings with two arms, two legs, a head, and 10 fingers and 10 toes. It creeped me out so much that I'm now even more against abortion than I was before. I still think it should be legal because it's a woman's choice, but I don't agree with it at all.

Abortion is so wrong! I think it's kinda okay if the mother has been raped, then again taking the baby to term is not a bad idea because there is always the option of adoption. I think it's way then okay if the mother will die though. I don't mean "oh im gonna die" drama queen type either. also...whats wrong with guys getting involved in the process? it takes 2 to tango and if daddy is gonna be around he should have a say in the decisions as well. guys are just as responsible in my opinion. have you ever seen what a baby looks like at 7 weeks and it's aborted? if not look at this site:: http://www.cbrinfo.org/Resources/pictures.html

in most rape cases the victim doesn't get pregnant, but i also read once that a woman was raped decided to keep the child, and that was the only child she ever had. I personally think its wrong to have an abortion, but if someone ever did i feel that person is the one who will be judged by God, not me or anyone else. there are so many couples out in the world who would love to have a child and don't. Adoption is better, if someone doesn't want to keep the baby. Oh and incidently i was raped and i didn't get pregnant, but if i did i would have kept the child, the child is innocent the rapist is not.

Well I believe that abortion is wrong. While rape is a TERRIBLE thing, there is still a new life created. That baby may grow up to be a great person, and I don't believe you should punish the baby because the dad (most of the times in rape situtations) did a terrible thing. That is my view. Also the bible tells you not to kill. I came from a loving family that wanted me more then anything.
