Don't go screwing with drain traps, etc. If it worked ok for this long, then its' probably something simple. You didn't say it isn't cooling, so the coil isn't froze up. Make sure your filter isn't stopped up, and has gotten sucked into the blower causing trouble. More than likely, the drain is just clogged, and you can cut the pvc pipe and flush or blow it out. Why don't you have an aux. drain pan if your unit is in the attic? You should consider having one installed. Please remember to glue a coupling to re-join the pipe, and not just tape it back together with electricians tape.

Check the exterior of your home for the overflow drain. This drains excess water from the condensor drain pan. If the overflow line or lines are clogged, the drain pan water will overflow into your attic and damage your ceiling.

do not use a tee! reason is if the drain does not have a trap in it , the fan and drain water will have an oppisite affect and will pull air in from the tee and actually blow the water into your duct work and your problem will be 10x worse A/C - REFRIGERATION mech 14 years.........
