My dear pet Zoey (a malayan box turtle) passed away after 8 years with the family. I don't want to throw her in the trash. What have others done with their deceased pets?

Friends and family alike have done different things from an honest to goodness Viking send-off to burying them in their own yards or favorite places. I had married friends lose both their dogs within weeks of each other and they burried them both together at her father's farm and have started a "Phoenix Ring" in that the buriel site has now become an area where a pit fire is lit and time is spent reflecting. I believe whatever makes your family happiest (or what wiould have made your beloved Zoe happiest :-)

Put her in a box with some tissues, her favorite rock and bury her where you can visit.
Have a small funeral and put a cross and flowers on her grave.
The turtle won't know but it will be your tribute to her for all the fun she has given you.
It is not silly but an ok thing to do.

Technically, in most cities and counties, it's illegal to burry an animal or anything that has or had a heart beat in your backyard.

But we always ignored the law and burried them in the backyard near their favorite place. Put them in something that if dug up by another animal they couldn't get to the turtle.

And make a nice tombstone. The lil' critter deserves that :)

Bury her in your favorite place. I chose to create my own place. I buried my turtle(Tiny, she was a soft shell turtle.) in the yard and i planted some flowers on top of her. It made me smile to see her in a beautiful place.

Sorry about your loss. it type of feels alluring to push her into the river, notwithstanding the an infection would spread if something receives a carry of her :( similar is going with the airborne dirt and dirt. Ever imagine of puppy cremation? you would possibly want to sprinkle her ashes over the spot you got here upon her.
