78 yo wants to know if anyone has had this problem and knows what to do about it....or does anyone have a theory?
History: At 47 yo, 1973, right medial knee cartilage removed. Residual lack of 5 degree knee extension. Good results. No pain or limp until 1994.
In 2000 onset of excess right pushoff, right foot rises off floor when sitting or leaning forward. Can consciously lower it. Left leg 1/2 in shorter, a lift is no benifit. The excess pushoff results in ankle and forefoot pain.

Sounds like your symmetry is off.
I would suggest that you strengthen both of your legs and feet the same time to correct this problem.

Easiest way is to buy a couple of 5 gallon pails with lids.
Put some water in the pails.
Pick them up off the floor and HOLD them for 1 minute.
Then set them down.
Do this every day.
Once a week, add a bit more water.

This will strengthen and stretch the muscles in your legs where eventually you will be strong evenly on both legs.
