How much do goats cost?

I am talking about cheap goats to just keep as pets and to eat the grass. Can you get them for $50 or less?

If there are any exotic animal auctions in your area you can usually easily find goats for less than $50 each. Registered goats are much higher than that but if you just want them as pets it probably doesn't matter to you if they are registered. You definitely want to have more than one if possible, they will be much happier. They are great for eating weeds and keeping fence rows clean, but if you have flowers or shrubs they will eat those, too, unless you have good fencing to keep them away from them. If you have males, and don't want to have to deal with the smell, you can have them castrated and that will take care of the smell and also make them nicer pets. The reason buck goats smell so bad is because they urinate on themselves to attract the does. Wethers (castrated males) don't do that so they don't have the offensive odor.

Should have asked a year agor I just gave away 10 as many do. I would suggest pigmy goats. there easyer to controll and make good pets. The males tend to give off a bit of an offensive smeel but a hose does a good job and gets them a little rialed witch is fun , just dont turn your back!! They usaully cost about $25 and up. depending on where you live.
