Well, the cool thing about Hollywood is that there's a big difference between when you make a movie and when it comes out in theatres. I usually takes 9 months to a year for a film to be shot, edited, marketed, and available the theatres. When I was "officially" in the business and not just reporting it, I worked on Taxi, Beauty Shop, Dominoe, and I think also Coach Carter in 3 months. I had a really busy summer and every week another movie came out. Even though I shot the movies at different times, they all came out. In Hollywood right now there are atleast 100 films being shot and more across the country and all over the world. If you're interested in the industry you should visit www.backstage.com, www.variety.com, or www.rossreports.com. That way you'll know what's comin out.

4evaluvu probably put it best, though as far as answering your actual question of how actors make so many movies in a year...the average actual shooting time of a film tends to range around 3-4 months, depending on the scope of the film. So an actor playing the lead in one film, theoretically, could still lead in a couple other films within a year, not to mention the fact that they may also go for shorter shooting periods for smaller roles in other movies. Also, a lot of times, an actor may film one movie at one time, then another movie sometime later, and the two studios those films were shot for happen to pick the same timeframe to release.

Movies are filmed years in advance of the actual release date. sometimes an actor or actress will film like two or three movies within a few years, but the last one may come out before the first one. I used to get really confused by that too.

They don't film movies from start to end in order. They do different shots at different times. So if one movie did at the sjp shots first and the other one did all the sjp takes later it is possible. That and I am sure she did jump from one movie set to another a few times.

Most movies are not released in the same order as they were made. She could have made one movie two years ago and it barely came up for release now. Depends on marketing and the movie company who produced each movie.

As long as the movies are from different companies it is possible. SJP goes to two different places and acts in her part of the movie.
