just an fyi...i never saw hitchhikers guide 2 the galaxy but that question was on another site and just wanted 2 see how many people answered this. so far there are 5 or 6 people who bothered 2 answer my question and i just want 2 say ur welcome 4 giving u points

According to Deep Thought, it is 42.
The problem is that we don't know what the question is.
(It isn't "What do you get when you multiply six by nine" because the Golgafrinchams landed on prehistoric Earth and messed up the program.)

If you want to know the question (which those who asked Deep Thought never fully understood) then it is: "What is six multiplied by nine?"
Or, at least that is what Arthur Dent can come up with as one of the last of the part of the Great Computer in the universe.
Read the Hitchhicker's series. It's a lot funnier than the movie - some things just can't be translated to the big screen.
By the way, I do know that 6*9 is not 42. That is what is in the book, though.
