Freedom of movement, mobility rights or the right to travel is a human rights concept which is respected in the constitutions of numerous Western states. It asserts that a citizen of a state, in which that citizen is present, generally has the right to leave that state, travel wherever the citizen is welcome, and, with proper documentation, return to that state at any time; and also (of equal or greater importance) to travel to, reside in, and/or work in, any part of the state the citizen wishes without interference from the state.

The world has always been in a state of mass migration between various countries/peoples for political, and economic reasons. What one generation is known as immigrants then the next can become emmigrants. Without these changes economies and countries could cease to exist.

Immigration occures when citizens of one country are being oppressed, or have a lesser economic advantage than where they are.

This causes them to migrate (like ducks) to better locations for food, shelter, and happiness.

In the case of Canada-USA-Mexico there is a huge difference in culture between Canada/USA and Mexico. The Mexican government has been described as undesirable, and hostel to the citizens. Additionally, in Mexico, there is very little "Middle-Class" citizens. As a Mexican citizen the demographics are Rich and Poor. So, the poor flee Mexico to escape the police and poverty.

In short, neigboring countries need to equalize services provided by the government and work towards eliminating the separation of classes.

If Canada/USA would lower the social services and if Mexico would raise their social services we would not see such a migration of Mexicans into the USA (soon to be Canada).

Every country in the world has immigration, legal and illegal. People of all colors and ethnic origins have been roaming the globe since man's beginnings, looking for better living conditions or just to travel...or maybe conquer someone else's patch of land. People migrate from the countryside to urban centers, from city to city, from one state or province to another, not just from poor countries to rich ones.

Just think of immigration as a human mobility process to be managed at different levels (ever moved from one state to another?) and not a problem to be solved.

There's even a philosophical aspect to immigration, broadly speaking. For example, you could say that 18-year-olds migrate to campuses from the parental home, looking to better their lives and acquire new resources.

Immigration is a natural human phenomenon that cannot be prevented. When people find that they are in need to move to a different place.... they do, regardless of national boundaries. Humans have been doing so for thousands if not millions of years. Its that simple... people just do.

Because we just happen to have the greatest country in the world. Most freedoms, most wealth, most of the most. This is taking nothing away from great countries such as England, Australia, Japan, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and etc. Just plain and simple we have the best of the best. You may notice that I did not mention France. That was not a mistake !!!

Immigration is what makes our country what it is. Unless you are 100% "native american" you are the decendent of an immigrant or a slave.

Because the US gives away so many freebies. Why wouldnt' a poor person from another country want to come here? And as soon as their kids are born, then they're eligible for even more goodies: welfare, WIC (food stamps), Section 8 housing, free lunches, you name it.

Bottom line?
To offset our birth/death ratio and maintain our workforce.
Without a strong workforce it is impossible to compete globally with other countries who have a larger pool of manpower.

That being said, it still must be done legally; not the way its been conducted of late.
