Eff 7/1/06 every person receiving any form of Medicaid will have to prove identity and citizenship before benefits can be approved. If you can't produce proof you are basically SOL. The policy DOES NOT affect 3 day emergency Medicaid available to undocumented persons living in the US. How did this piggyback through on the Federal Budget Deficit Act without detection, or does the general population not care??!!

This is typical of an administration that flies under the radar of a smoke screen. Why will undocumented aliens continue to receive 3 day emergency Medicaid, when the child of a dysfunctional, irresponsible US citizen (who can't/won't provide documentation) won't be able to get Medicaid. What is the burden on the system going to be then? Why do I sound bitter? Because I've worked in case mgmt for DPSS/DHS for 25+ years and can see where this is all going.
