They did not die out, they are still there. They just lost their cultural identity over the years. They became part of the Roman empire, so pharaohs were no longer needed (can't usurp the authority of Rome, you know). It happens with every culture. Look at Rome - now they're Italians. It's the way of the world.

They didn't die out! There is still country you know with that name Egypt.
The Egyptians were conquered by the Persians but liberated by Alexander and a new Hellenistic Egypt was formed! The Romans did conquer Egypt but the Greek Egyptian way still remained! The Byzantine Greeks did turn Egypt from pagan to Christian but their way of life was changed because the Muslim invasion!
Nowadays a great majority of Egyptians are Muslims and a large minority are Christians.
As you can see they are still around!

The Egyptians didn't die out, their empire (or dynasties) finally declined like all such do. They first were overrun by the Greeks under Alexander, who established the city of Alexandria and left Egypt under the rule of his general, Ptolemy. This situation was stable for about 300 years until Cleopatra and her brother had a power struggle and she enticed Julius Caesar to help her. Her brother was killed and she became Queen of Egypt with a son by her powerful Roman protector to cement his help. Unfortunately, when Caesar was killed, she lost her protector until she found Marc Anthony and went down to defeat with him against Octavian (who became Augustus Caesar) at the battle of Actium. Rejecting capture, she committed suicide with the famous asp, and Egypt became just another province of Rome.

Egyptians are still with us, all that vanished was the system of Pharaohs, who ruled ancient Egypt. Like many countries in the past, they moved on to other forms of Government.
So the people are still here, living and breathing and working etc. It's just that ancient form of life that has disappeared.
The Roman Empire, and the Caesars took care of that.
Cleopatra, being the last of her line, and that was Greek, not Egyptian.

A lot of people have inaccurate answers on this question. I just wish I could give a complete answer on this very good question. In southern Sudan the Shilluk, Dinka and Nuer people believe they are decendants of Egyptians, but they are one of many groups in Africa which have migrated out of Egypt, as per the Bantu expansion. Tut clearly had ******* type characteristics and red skin, his two chief guards were as dark as could be, many Pharaos were black African. Successive waves of migrations into Egypt co-occured with migrations out of Egypt into the Savana and coastal regions in the west and down the east side Ethiopia, Tanzania, ect. and then also into central regions Cameroon, Zaire, ect The Berber group seems to have been the last to separate and they speak languages related to Siwi spoken in Egypt and related to Semitic languages. It is possible that Bantu languages were mainly adopted from the pygmies and Hutus, ect... other more indigenous peoples, but I do not know. I find Chadic languages are mixes of many sources from African languages on a Kwa like base with Berber relations.

The Egyptians didn't die out...They were conquored by the Romans and than simply began to interbreed with them and other surrounding cultures. In otherwords their purity was mated out of them like most everyone.

Die out? Hmmmmm.

Last time I checked it was one of the oldest continuing civilizations in the world. They didn't die out, they just lost power to the Roman empire.
