Some topics would be...how/why did your parents name you that, famous people with the same name, funny stories about people who accidentally call you Stacy (my sister Tracy has this happen all the time), if you could change your name - would you and if so, to what.... hmmm... Have you always liked your name? Did you ever think it would sound funny with a certain married name ie Tracy Spacey?

Hope some of this is helpful. :P

Oh....and there's that song from the 60's..."Tracy when I'm with you, something you do, bounces me off the ceiling"

I wrote a similar essay. However in the essay I downplayed the importance of my name. For me a name is just a name. It in no ways affect who you are. So for a child to call you mommy and a friend to call you tracy, in no way does your character change. This makes the essay more interesting than "my name originated from......and means.....". But make sure it meets the requirements.

I did something like this once for a creative writing class. I don't know if this helps (because it doesn't seem to fit with what you've done), but we did ours in the style of the Esperanza vignette from "House on Mango Street." Basically, find different thing your name can mean, (to you, by definition, etc.), reactions of others/of your own to others with the same name, what type of animal and it's characteristics your name is to you, different pronunciations or spellings and what you've thought of them in the past and now, or a new name you would create for yourself with characteristics different from those you don't like about your real name or that brings out characteristics you do like.
In that ramble I hope you find something worthwhile
