Hi,
I understand your concern and imagine that you would be alarmed at what you said is happening to you.
From what I understand, you just reached puberty (14?), and at this time, when your body's getting adjusted to the changes that launch you into womanhood, a lot of different confusing things can happen all at once.
It is not entirely unusual when a woman's periods are just getting started, to have some irregularities...missed periods, unexpected periods, prolonged periods...e.t.c. The cycles that happen at this time are known as "anovulatory cycles", and the hormonal changes taking place are responsible for these. These changes are different for different women.
Chances are there's nothing wrong with you, and there's no reason to be alarmed.
If you see a doctor, he'd probably not do a pap smear, as this is usually done to screen for diseases you most likely, given your age and apparent innocence, do not have. He'd probably take a more detailed history, and may examine you to be sure there is no other reason why you're having the problem. Such reason could include foreign body (like tissue etc) in your vagina, or other incidental reason why you're bleeding, and also may include bleeding disorders. This would however be unlikely if you do not have a history of bleeding much after minor injuries or under the skin resulting in discolorations.
I hope this was helpful to you. This is however no substitute to getting medical opinion on your health.

if ur period lasts u for 5 more days then go to the doctor just to be sure everythings ok but make sure u are getting enough fluids like water and juice in your system to help your body build back up the blood its lost. this is all normal. some ppl get their first few periods for 17 days. but ur should stop in about 4 days so be patient and wait. if u get a pap smear make sure u get a female doctor so ur mom will feel more comfortable about it.

If you are worried about it, then the doctor can set your mind at ease or give you the help that you need.

You shouldn't need a pap smear unless you've become sexually active. But if the Doctor wants you to get one then when they do it, it should be a female doctor, or a female medical assistant should be present for it.

Your mom should know how important pap smears are, unless she has never gotten one. Pap smears check for the human papaloma virus. This virus usually clears up by itself, but sometimes it doesn't and can lead to cervical cancer. That's why they are important.

The doctor will check you physically for any problems and they might run some blood tests just to make sure there are no serious conditions. They can put you on birth control pills to regulate your cycle and decrease the days you are bleeding and the flow.

I have seen this a few times, normally I run standard blood tests to see if they reveal anything, if it don't then there a few more test that can be done, finally if its a big problem you probably would be refered to see a specialist
