because gay people make their babies gay, of course....
please feel the dripping sarcasm...
I totally agree with too many orphans being denied stable homes because of outsiders' personal prejudices.

By and large, conservatives like to have one or two "unsolvable" problems out there that show their "moral superiority" off in the best light. For this reason, it is best for them to discourage solutions which (though they might work) might show any of their core beliefs to be flawed. Of course children brought up in a loving home (regardless of the "parents" gender or sexual orientation) are better off than kids in a home, but without the orphanages, how will the right complain about "liberal failure". If you teach children about contraception, then when they become sexually mature they might have sex (!). Far better to not educate them and grow the stock of unwanted children.
A solution might be a national referendum that publically recorded each Americans position on abortion, birth control, sex education and adoption. Anyone who voted to both restrict the first three and also to restrict adoption to "straight families" would automatically get the next baby and be legally obliged to support it to adulthood.
Problem solved.

Because they (not just conservatives...but anyone against it) think the child will grow up to be gay. Whether it's thinking homosexuality is wrong or whatever, the fear is there. They don't have open minds. Plenty of gay kids come from straight families, so that has absolutely nothing to do with it...or it shouldn't. They're not thinking of the children that need a loving family, gay or straight.

Conservatives only care about children when they're in the womb. Once they're out, they don't give a crap what happens to them!
It is hard to grasp just how ignorant these people are. Keep in mind, they don't understand anything about homosexuality. They think it's a choice, they think it's a disease, they think it's a sin. They're blinded by religion. It's pretty hopeless for them. I think that things will finally change when that generation of hillbillies & rednecks die off. Younger generations tend not to have the same beliefs about homosexuality, so it's only a matter of time!

The majority of people who oppose Gay couples from adopting are supposedly very religious. They live in a make believe world where people live by the teachings of corrupt institutions like the various religions. To exist most churches concentrate on the bible because they veil the misdeeds of the church by preaching the gospel. Belief in a higher being does not require total obedience to church doctrine. If those who run the church sinful their condemnation of others is meaningless. Good and evil are in each of us and part of being good is not to prejudge others. Conservatives forget that too often.

Conservatism is all about the respect and submission to Authority and social norm. Gay people are born with orientations that fall outside that norm. And some gay people refuse to be quiet about who they are and show pride in themselves. Conservatives think gays choose to be gay, that they choose to rebel against the norm of society. To a Conservative this makes them similar to biker gangs, people who openly flaunt their rebellion. If we could only prove that homosexuality is a genetic variation and not the matter of conscious decision for most gays, perhaps the Conservatives would accept that gays are not super-rebels, but pretty conservative people themselves. At least the older ones. All twenty-somethings party and act like kids, no matter what their orientation. They fear that gays will raise their children to be rebellious to society and its norms too. If they could prevent bikers from adopting too, they would.

Go figure! These children don't get 'aborted', yet many spend their lives bouncing from one abusive foster home to the next, LOVE is LOVE, sexual orientation has nothing to do with loving a child, nurturing and giving a good healthy life. There are plenty of STRAIGHT dead beat dads, abusive husband /wife idiots out there as it is. cons want it both ways....don't abort....yet don't allow those who are born the opportunity for love and family because they happen to be gay! HYPOCRITES!!!!!

Prejudice or not, the fact is that gay behaviour is distorted from the start. Nature wouldn't give you a penis if you need a vagina. So if you behave vaginal you´re faking it in your own caricaturesque way. This emotional-psichological-anal turmoil most gays plounge daily in is hardly a sane scenario for a small kid who lost his or her parents. Besides, if gays were'nt always trying to score straight people nobody would care less. Remember? "Another One Bites The Dust" or "We Are The Champions"?

I think a lot of people relate Gay as perverted then in turn relate that to child pornography. This Country and a lot of The Christian Right, need to educate themselves. There are countless stories of adopted children being molested, even murdered, in a straight environment. Two dads 2 moms who should care? A safe and happy home for so many children deeply in need is what we need to look at.

Personal prejudice sums it up nicely. But some will say it's not personal, it's religious: god said it in the bible. Well, we don't all believe that. Not a valid reason to neglect kids who deserve a good home. Religion is personal and that's why we have a constitutional amendment against its influence on government. Of course the reality is very different.

Gay people cannot reproduce and thus are forced to brainwash others into their lifestyle. Sending kinds into that world is sick. I have yet to meet a gay person that doesn't freak out sometimes.
I think its up to god to judge them for their behavior not me, I don't have to agree with it.
I personally would rather go to a state run facility or a foster home.
