Money is often destroyed by the U.S. Treasury because it becomes old, and is damaged. They do this, and then they reprint more of it and keep it circulating.
Money has to be backed by Gold, they cannot simply just print it and give it to people whom are in poverty, however there are very wealthy people such as mister Bill Gates whom could change the poverty in the world with the interest he makes, and that choice is totally up to those individuals whom have the majority of it.
If those persons simply give there money to those whom do not have it, then they might just as well burn it, as it will do little good for poverty in the long run, and will only be a temporary fix, as those persons whom live in poverty often would not know how to use it best for there own good, however if they were to purchase food for those whom are starving, then we would never see another commercial on television again about starving Ethiopians, and also the people must be educated, and businesses opened in which they can earn money and support there family's in a reasonable fashion.
One Parent in our society must become capable of supporting the family unit so that the other may raise the children, as when both parents have to work, and struggle financially to pay the bills then the family unit breaks down and chaos rules the future.
Children need time with there parents, and the love of there parents in order to become capable moral assets to our society, and money in and of it's self will not fix the problems, it is all in the manor in which it is used, and money is only the tool the problem must be solved with respect to intelligence.

People are morons.
Not only are you a living example of human failure, but so is the "other" half of society.
Every year, hundreds of Freshman Economics majors hear this question (despite the fact that it is phrased to them in a coherent and meaningful manner) and change their majors.
Because the American economy is an essentially a laissez-faire or free-market system, some people will be more successful than others. When the market benefits one person and leads to the impoverished state of another, only moronic twits will wonder what has happened.
The market will favor inventive, determined, ambitious, confident, educated, hard-working and otherwise productive individuals over others that lack these qualities.
There will always be a lower class and a higher class. However, our market has consistently shown that, as time progresses, the average American standard of living will gradually improve. Although the rich will become more rich, the poor will become less poor.
This improvement is manifested in the increased access all Americans have to opportunities such as better education, regular employment and more technologically advanced products, like safer cars and more sophisticated healthcare.
A basic belief in welfare on the drastic proportion that I am sure you would endorse is fundamentally Un-American; our society is an ever-improving one that affords opportunity and freedom to all its citizens. Anything short of that would demean the very ideals upon which America stands.

Alright it is time to set the record straight.
1- The money being burned is being replaced with new money. You can't keep it in service because inflation would be out of control
2- Why should we be compelled to give anything that we worked hard to get, to someone who did nothing for it?
3- People are who/what they are because of the decisions they have made throughout their lives. Not because "The Man" is keeping them down.
4- Rich people are not to be hated. How many of you owe your jobs to poor people? Besides most of us strive to be the"hated rich". Only a small percentage of the wealthy inherited it. Most earned it in their lifetime. That is not easy.
So sit on a bench, drink 40's all day and complain that the man is keepin' you down.

1 They burn money and replace it with newly printed money. It's not getting rid of it's more like replacing because the bills are too old and dirty.
2 The economy. Poverty, unemployment is built into the economic structure to ensure the survival of the markets. They are trying to control inflation/deflation.

First of all, the Treasury burns money when it get old and ragged, but they print new bills to replace what they burn.
Second, poor people don't have millions to contribute to some politician's campaign and thus effectively bribe them like corporations do.
Third, wealthy people run the country and they falsely believe that poor people deserve to be poor because they are lazy and stupid.

Money needs gold behind it or it is just so much paper. When they burn money it is old and trashed and they replace it with an equal amount of new money. The value behind it is the same, so the amount of money in circulation needs to be the same or all of the money we have would be worthless.

Because burning money makes the other money worth more. Just having bills doesn't make the population rich. Look at post WWI germany. Their money was so useless it was actually cheaper to burn money than buy logs.

Because that money is out of date and the U.S. treasury prints new money to replace it. If they didn't then the inflation would suck balls...seriously. By the way I think you might be burning brain cells with a question like that. You are a dumbass just so you know.

DEAD BILLS.
1) YOU HAVE THOSE THAT DO NOT HAVE ANY FORM OF
AMBITION.
2) THOSE THAT DO, NEVER HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO
EXCEL. THERE ARE ROADBLOCKS FROM ALL FACETS OF
THE GOVERNMENT AND CORPORATE AMERICA. (keep in
mind, the 1964 amendment specifies no discrimination. Yet,
there is a 'to hire quota').
