I have my prom/ leaver's do tomorrow and i have a simple strappy red dress. I'm wearing with black round toe shoes but i dunno what to do with accessories? I have a pearl necklace which looks nice with it but at the moment my hands are jewellery free.... what would go with pearl necklace? or what other accessories would you suggest with a red dress? Also hair up or hair down?

Say no to the pearl. Since you shoes are black, go with the black accessories. It will look totally cordanated and awesome!

The jewelry to compliment the dress depends on the cut and where you want to draw attention. I agree with the other writers that said no to the pearls. Not a good choice with a red dress. (If the dress was black, white, tan--pearls might go well but definitely not red.)

You can pick up some nice black jewelry -- there is a lot to choose from now -- go to a department store and see what they have to choose from. Depending how the dress is cut in the front will depend on the style necklace you wear. You can always do a black choker, if the neckline is not too plunging. (If you like the look of a choker, you can also do a long strand of black beads double wrapped around your neck.) If you want something to hang in the middle of your chest, go with an 16-18" length necklace.

Also, if the dress is plain, get something with bling but if the dress style is busy, then do not get anything with too much sparkle. Careful not to over do it. Choose one style and stay with it--don't do super sparkle necklace, bracelet, and a ring on every finger.

Wherever you want to draw the most attention, pick that piece and go from there. If it's a necklace, then a simple bangle bracelet can be sexy on bare arms. Go easy on rings, just one per hand.

Hair up, its a special occasion spend a little money or time on yourself and have a nice "du" for that day. I would recomend black jewlery to accompany your black shoes- maybe even some black gloves and a nice coker? If you really want to wear your pearls, you could buy some black ribbon and dress up the pearls with it, maybe wrap some ribbon around the necklace, or tie the ribbon (in a nice bow, since your hair would be up) higher or behind your pearls so it looks like two necklaces and it draws in the black shoes. If you don't want to go the glove route, paint your nails nice and just wear a ring or a simple black bracelet- sometimes simpler is better :)

To elaborate your red dress, wear black plastic hoop earrings and put your hair up in a sleek bun with maybe a red and black clip on the side. you could also wear a pearl bracelet, or go to like Target or something and get a lot of pretty red or black jewlery, because red and black make a chic pair or colors.
good luck

More pearls and diamonds (or fake diamonds like CZs work). And if you can get mixed pearls, that might work too (you know, the black Tahitian pearls and/or the pink pearls).

PUT YOUR HAIR UP , IT'S THE PROM , FORMAL . ALSO THE PEARLS ARE A GREAT IDEA . (IF YOU HAVE RHINESTONES WEAR THEM INSTEAD ). A LITTLE MORE ELEGANT FOR THE OCCASION . IF NOT PUT ON A PAIR OF GOLD EARRINGS IF YOU DON'T HAVE PEARLS , AND A PEARL BRACELET . REMEMBER TOO MUCH IS OVER KILL. I'M SURE YOU'LL BE GORGEOUS ,, HAVE FUN .

nah, no pearls, at least not with a red dress. I'd go with silver and diamonds (cubic will do just fine)
