How do we get back to where we in the USA can vote freely for the candidates that we prefer, in order of preference, regardless of their party?

So far I've been discouraged by the Democratic and Republican values. For instance, I am pro-life and anti-death penalty. So what system would be better so I can support it in legislation locally and maybe it will spread?

The system change starts with "You". Find out as much as you can about each and every person you decide to vote for....then go for it. The system change is called "Split Ticket", in where "you" vote for the person that "you" feel would do the best job in that position. Dem's and Rep's are just party....vote for the person that you feel will get the job done!

Umm Vote...Every one on the Ballot belongs to a political party..regardless Green party, Republican, Democrate...Joe Shmoe cant win. What you can do is vote for some one who you belive has the best interests for that position. you can vote Rep. once and Dem. the next...makes no difference as long as you belive in what they are doing.

that is the idea of having 2 parties, this allows you to select the party that "Best" thinks and acts in the way{s} you believe the government should be directed. This is after all a Representative government!!
