Just do what it do.
Actually you don't really wanna be cool in high school. It distracts from what's really important (Studying)

Trust me, I messed up bad on my freshmen (or maybe sophomore) year and although I got my grades back up in the other years, the college I wanted did't accept me because of that one year.

I remember how much I hated that community college.

If you want to be "popular" cool there are four choices:

1) You have to do a lot of things that will hurt other people, things that sometimes you don't think is right (i.e. drugs, sex, etc). Many times the popular or "cool" people ruin their lives in the name of being popular. You'll find that the more people who know you, the more people will dislike you (its not that there are MORE that dislike you, its that the % of people who do not like you stays the same). If you do the things that popular kids do, and try to outshine them at their own game, you'll become popular at the sacrifice of your own indivisuality

2) Find something you're good at and do it better than anyone in the school, then flaunt it. Look at Napoleon Dynamite. You think if a nerd put out those dance moves at YOUR school that he'd be pretty popular too? The problem with this one is you have to be THE BEST. But the upside is it can be anything: Art, music, dance, any sport (but not academics... sorry, that just doesn't make you popular. But it DOES help if you're good at school AND something else)

3) Be as crazy as possible. Wear clothing that makes you stand out and go where people can see you and scream and shout and be crazy. Just dont hurt anyone. In this sense, you'll become more notorious than popular, but you'll still have a name that people will remember you for.... being "the crazy guy"

4) Be extremely attractive. But I'm guessing if you're asking this question, you (like me) are not extrememly attractive =D

Please choose #2. It'll get you lots of places in life, not just highschool.

you know, i used to care about that in eight grade, then in ninth grade i met a group of six or so girls who weren't exactly in any group. once meeting them, i didn't care anymore. I'm a junior now and i can honestly tell you that worrying about being popular is a waste of time. having a group of a few good friends is all you need to be happy and get through. also, there are so many different people in high school, no one really pays all that much attention to who hangs out with who. just find people who you enjoy and who do things that your comfortable with. the "popular" people at my school will probably never be able to remember a day of their high school career because they went through each day stoned or wasted.

You should ask yourself, do you really want to be cool? or do you want to enjoy high school?

if you just be yourself have a good time, make friends outside of your comfort zone, be friendly then you'll have a good time and be cool =)
