The answer is: "Because it's summer". High school kids already took the jobs even before they got out of school. Some work during the year part time then go full time once school is over so places like to keep them because they know there are good chances that they'll stay longer or come back. If you need summer cash (I mean really low) and don't plan on staying there, tell them you want to stay a long time and it's not just for the summer. It also helps if you've had other jobs that weren't just temporary. You might want to try low paying jobs in retail stores, super markets and restaurants. Tourist areas will hire too especially restaurants in those areas. I've been through it. It's like that every year in Boston and I didn't find anything two years in a row. Beware of ads in the paper that say they'll pay 8.5 bucks plus commission (Cutco cutlery is one of them).

Good luck!

Don't give up! Make a list of your skills before you go in and review them so you are connected to what it is you are capable of doing. Dress professionally even if it's in the creative field. Messy, unkempt hair and clothes is a real turn off. Make eye contact and smile. Have questions to ask them. Having a notebook with you to write down questions before hand is a good idea and you can also write down things they say. It shows you're interested in getting the job. Be enthusiastic and never give up. Perhaps the reason you have not gotten THE job yet is because the best one for you has not come around yet. Have faith the one for you is right around the corner and you'll land it! Good luck!

Are you being picky about what kind of job you are looking for? My step daughter is you age and has the same problem. The problem with her is she only want to work in the mall for clothing retail like GAP, or Old Navy. Most of the jobs are already taken by the time school is out. Some fast food places are not that bad, McDonalds and burger king are horriable, try star buck, places like that.

1.Use a CV from MS Office or a similar program, they're quite good and can be tailored to your needs.
2. Enter as much 'positive' information with dates, as possible, don't tell them what you can't do.
3. Check grammar and Spelling.
4. Neatness carries a lot of weight.

Good luck

Woow, what a fouled mouth person! It's no wonder anyone won't hire you. Certianly your bad attitude comes through when you apply and belive me hiring managers can see an attitude coning from a mile away.

Try losing the attitude and you may just get a job.

It appears, from your qustion, that you have a slight problem with your vocabulary. The use of **** two times in one sentence is a bit excessive. Most businesses are looking for someone with the ability to communicate without having to result to vulgarity as a means of expressing themselves.

I doubt if your good grades were in English.
