...are the same arguments made by opponents to the Civil Rights Movement in the 50's & 60's? They said things like,"It's against God's will" or "This is the way it's always been" or, my favorite: "This will destroy the fabric of our society."
Can any non-KKK member still make these same arguments 50 years later against Civil Rights for African Americans? 50 years from now, won't these arguments against gay marriage seem as grotesque?

You have hit the nail on the head, but you fall short in your question...SHOULD THE GAY RIGHTS MOVEMENT PATTERN ITSELF AFTER THE BLACK MOVEMENT OF THE 60'S? Then, the motto was, "Burn, Baby, Burn." And the blacks burned and burned...huge areas of cities were leveled by flames. The movement instilled great fear in white America, and the civil rights long overdue to blacks became more of a reality...ain't there yet, but it is far better today than it was. WHEN will Gays learn that the only language most anti gay people understand is violence??? These same people preach violence against gays...it is time to consider some short cuts, for our political ways are failing us. History has a way of repeating itself, and here is one repeat I would love to see..I can guarantee that in a few short weeks, the anti-gay rhetoric would tone down considerably, and within a year, go away. Fear is the only way change has ever been brought about...

They're obviously losing the fight and cannot come up with any new justifiable arguments (if you consider the old arguments justifiable) since there are none. It is also being used as a way for politicians to get votes "Vote for me and no fags will be married and marriage will be protected in this country!" and they get all the people who oppose it to vote for them.
The church still has strong holds on the way things work, and the sooner they realize they can only control their followers and not the whole world, the better

Homosexuality is something you're born with, on a similar time as polygamy and incest are the two options. Homosexuality is commonly in basic terms a time-honored loving couple, in basic terms of a similar intercourse. Polygamy is commonly one guy extremely possessing many women. Homosexuality is innocuous. Incest as you mentioned can produce retarded (for loss of a greater proper be conscious) toddlers. All of that's elementary wisdom. So i do no longer see gay marriage via fact the slippery slope ultimate to polygamy and incestuous marriage. Hell, incestuous marriage is already criminal in greater states than gay marriage anyhow, and this is particular no longer interior a similar states. (think of the Bible Belt.) even though, inspite of all this, I help all 3 forms of marriage, and could vote to legalize all of them. i think of i'm interior the minority however.

I am strait but me and friends have asked eachother what the other would do if one of our children turned out gay We all think that people are born that way and that is the way you are meant to be dont worry about all those close minded jerks they need to worry about themselves or maybe they are really having gay feelings and are mad at themselfs. I think that in about twenty years it will be legall to have a gay marriage but first we have to get all these up tight jerks like Bush outta here this is a message to every gay person out there Good Luck on the marriage thing and wish me luck on my Indain Casino geeting opened See Ya!

Very well phrased and well done! You seem to have hit the nail right on the head and considering some of the answers you've received, you've annoyed a few people. I hope that in less than 50 years those statements will be seen as archaic.

Absolutely and completely!

People are like sheep, but often with less of an intellectual capacity than one. They're conditioned and brainwashed into believing the same nonsensical arguments that really have no basis whatsoever, other than that somebody, at some point, claimed so.

It's about time for a revolution, wouldn't you say?

Frankly, I think your argument says it all. There is no rational, moral justification for denying homosexuals the civil right to a civil marriage.

most likely. society is starting to slowly get the idea that the KKK and the Nazis are swine that should be slaughtered with great pride and joy. OK, maybe not that idea, but at least they are starting to ignore them a bit more.

good point. i also love the people who have to resort to having to use obscenities and threats to make them feel like big men. notice how they usually yell them from a moving car, or use that language from behind the anonimousity of the internet?
i want them to remember that it didn't stop the civil rights movement, and their not going to stop us from receiving our civil rights either.

Prejudice never changes... only the targets.

Sadly, I have heard some white supremacist and seperatist groups make claims much to that effect.
