Does Rap music actually sound good?

Question

Please forgive me if I offend anyone, I did not intend to
I personally cannot stand rap music but a lot of black friends love it and say it sounds great. A lot of white people cannot stand it though, like me (I am white)
Is this because white people are naturally racist and don't like rap music becuase it's a 'black thing'
And if that's so, why don't we like white people rapping either?
Could it be that rap music sounds bad, but black people like it because of the message(s) the pre-50 Cent rap sent out, giving black people strength?
Also, a lot of white people who (try and) act black and say they like rap music are one of the few exceptions to white people not liking rap. Could it be becuase of today's message it sends about sex and drugs and them wanting to achieve what the rappers have by listening to it and becoming cool by doing so? Are they lying say they like the way it sounds or do they actually like it?
I believe the numbers (ppl liking ra or not) demand an explanation. or two

It's just that in my experience, the numbers say a lot of black people like rap music and a lot of white people, who claim they are not racist, absolutely cannot stand it.
The numbers are very big that it's just very hard to deny just by saying "It doesn't matter the colour of the skin of the listener"

I never said white people were racist, I was just asking if we were, and if that would explain this

I personally don't enjoy listening to a lot of it, but some of it does have a good message. I think it's what you grew up listening to that determines whether or not you like it. I grew up with my dad listening to a combination of Elvis, and bands like led Zeplin (I can't spell to well, sorry XP) so I'm more into rock and alternative. But like I said, some of it has a good message and it sounds good to some people, just as rock sounds bad other people, it just depends on you.

First off let me say that im not black im hispanic. I dont believe that white people are naturally racist i believe you choose to be it. I am one of probably the few people who find any type of race normal. skin color has no difference in people, its color and in the end were all humans. theres some white people that do like it and some dont. its not a black thing its just basically a sense of taste. i also think that depends on how you grew up. the music is normal just like any other music out there. it has a beat and it has a person. i understand that more than half of the rappers today are black and thats fine. they have talent just like everyone else does. they may sometimes talk about their race because of the way they are discriminated. i mean can you imagine being in their position? its just basically your taste in music. it dosent have to do with race.

WOW... its amazing that in this day and age we still have people who think like this..

I thinks to each his/her own.. I personally do not like all rap music but i do know a lot of White people that are more thugged out then I will ever be.. But that is what is so great about our society you have options and free will. I like music, some better than others but to say a certain race likes one better than another is closed minded.

This is an old issue... first of all, rap is not music. It is a group of people making tons of money from being as vulgar as society will allow them to be. Kids, who all go through a potty mouth period, love the obscenities and buy the tracks and thus, it is popular.

In truth, if Big Bird or Cookie Monster cussed every other word and claimed to be some pimp with crab lice and police record, they'd buy that too.

listen to the jew that raps... hes white and amazing lyrics, it took me a few good rappers like tupac to appreciate the amazing musical treat of course to sound trite eminem but not everyone enjoys all types of sound so relax. enjoy what you like

Hip Hop beats are very catchy. Lyrically, hip hop is sh*t though. Cars, hoes and how much more successful and "thugish" you are than me. Thanks but I don't think I'll look good in a "grill" anyway.
