Words like 'victory,' 'winning,' 'success' are thrown around rather loosely, but no plausible real end of the "course" in Iraq, to be "stayed," is offered by U.S.officials. What is really probable?

Where ever you are (the question asker), go outside of your home and first look to the right, then look left. Hopefully it will look like a safe neighborhood, children playing, adults taking, and getting along. Remember, This country was inhabit by the English and french for almost 200 years before it became a nation. It will take time, patients, and support. But then freedom is worth all that, eh?

I believe the hope is that Iraq will have a self governing society, held accountable to the people. This is a similar structure to other democratic nations of the world.

the problem with "victory" is... there are two religious parties that hate each other and I still don't see anything that will keep them from going into civil war after we leave... the ideas of "freedom" and "democracy" don't seem to be valued overall in society over there... of course there are some that appreciate the ideas, but they can't argue with the Koran... you can't reason with religion...

I see us "pulling out" the majority of our forces and it turning into a theocracy, much like Iran, about 2 years after we leave...

Tough question....I think what we really view as victory is a self sustaining government and for people to be able to live in that country without the fear of persecution. I think 'victory' ultimately means that it won't matter what religion you have you will be able to practice it within that country without fear. What needs to happen is for the Iraqi people to stop killing for their religion and unfortunately nobody would ever stop doing that. would you?
