Pay your bills and have a plan to get out of debt. When you owe money to people and companies, your a slave to the lender and for your question, the answer is yes debt can kill a marriage or relationship. As a man I wouldn't want to bring my debt into a woman's life.

It can really break a marriage. If one spouse has racked up debt before he met you, has bad credit, and doesn't even attempt to make it better....IT SUCKS!! It prevents the two of you from qualifying for car loans, mortgages, credit together and is a lot of weight for the Good Credit spouse to bear. TRUST ME. Try to resolve debts before marriage and think twice about marrying someone who has no intention of paying off debts.

Financial problems are the kiss of death to most relationships. As long as you are open and honest with each other, discuss it and agree a plan, you have a chance of making it through the bad patch. If you do, you have a strong relationship.

We are currently in debt but it has not destroyed our relationship at all. We talk and make plans and what to pay and when to pay it. We both know we've made mistakes and unneccesary purchases..
