I would use a tampon. At first I was scared to use them, but they are very easy to insert and very comfortable!! As someone said before, make sure you get the slender ones. I usually go for the Playtex Gentle Glide ones. They are very comfortable! And trust me, telling your dad that you are on your period is not as bad as it may seem! My parents divorced and I lived with my dad since I was 8.. and when it came around to me starting my periods, I had to tell him because he was the one to buy the stuff for me. Your dad already knows. It's a natural thing. He won't be surprised in the least. And once you tell him about it, he won't bring it up again.
Good luck with everything!

try using a tampon you can get into the pool wearing one. If that is too uncomfortable for you, I would suggest you just tell your dad that you really want to get in the pool, but right now is not the right time. Your dad will probably understand without asking too many questions.

wear a tampon. Oh and by the way, depending on how old you are your dad probably already knows that you have your period so why would it be so embarrassing to tell him that. He has/had a wife and he has you so don't you think he would understand it?? If you can't tell him something like this then you really need to work on your relationship.

Have you tried using tampons? They are great for activities like swimming. No one knows you're on your cycle but you and they are comfortable to wear. It might be an option worth looking in to. At least this way you can enjoy the beach and swimming and all the other extracurricular activities without feeling self conscious.

You should learn to be honest with your father. He's taking you there because he loves you. Do you think he'll care that you're experiencing a completely natural thing that all women go through? Tell him you'd rather postpone the trip for a week or else go somewhere else because the timing is bad. If he doesn't get it, say, "Dad, you're not getting it. The timing, like, the monthly timing, is bad. Okay?" He'll understand.

Either wear a tampon or don't go in....you shouldn't have to explain it to your Dad...most guys that have kids already know about the period thing. If he asks why you aren't swimming just say "it's girl stuff, dad" and I guarantee you he won't ask you about it again that day!!!

wear a tampon. If you have never worn them before, just try it out, there's always a first time for everything. But that way, he wont be able to know your on your period, you can swim all you want, and you shouldnt be able to feel it!

I always use them when I go swimming. Now,about your dad,Honey,he's your dad!He knows all about those thing's!If you don't want to go in the water, just say"dad,my monthly visit is here".Believe me,he will get the message. He's not as dumb as you think. That's LIFE.That's growing up.He was well aware of these things when he got with your mother.Lighten up!

Use tampons. If you've never used them before, get the slender regulars, and start practicing now. You will be able to swim anytime you want!
