They have absolutely everything you could ever want or need there already, except a good bit of cheese.
Check the weather forecast before you go, because when it rains there, it doesn't mess around.

I lived there for two years, and it can be very hot in the summer. It will also rain in the afternoon, oft with just five minutes warning (thunder rolls). But they do sell a lot umbrellas and rain gear there, so don't worry about that. As for bugs, I never really had a problem inside my apartments, but I knew some people that did, and they needed a misqutoe net so they could sleep well. One thing that you will have difficulty finding over there, or most places in Asia for that matter, is deodorant. If you are going to be there for a length of time, make sure you bring enough.
Remember to drink plenty of fluids while you are out in the sun. Sunscreen is good to bring.
Have fun, I wish that I could go back for a visi!

I was in Taiwan last week, take the lightest clothes you own.
Even when it rains, its not cold.
Mosquitoes love me, and I had no problems at all with them in Taipei.
They really do have everything in Taiwan, and its not very expensive, so you should be fine with bare essentials.

Well, i suggest deodarant & sunscreen.
clothes--bring really light clothes, maybe jackets for during a typhoon.
OFF!-bug spray--not really gonna help, too many mosquitoes. but still bring it just in case.
Essentials-hmm. dont need it.
you can also just pack cash & credit cards. Taiwan has EVERYTHING you need! =]
have lotsa fun=]
