Half-dollars and dollars from the US are very collectable because they aren't used muched and have lower mintages.
But they are only valuable if they are in perfect or near perfect condition.

The are worth he actually currency of the US but your kids kids may benifit from the coins if u saved it for them. My mom and dad are saving us a bag full of half dollars, dollar coins and 2 dollar bills. and i will be saving them for my kids

go to the library and find a coin book. you would need some special halves or dollar coins to get some decent kind of cash.
