The Bonobo are a great species to study. They use a variety of body language and sounds. They seem to be the only species of monkey that rule by love, and spend a lot of their time having orgies.

Just because they do not speak like we do does not mean they can not talk. Most primates and animals have ways that they talk and communicate with each other. It is the same reason why birds sing. =0)

They do talk after a fashion, not with words so much as we understand them, but with sounds such as grunts, groans, yelps, barks, whistles, etc. They use other methods as well, such as grooming, and nuzzling, and they use signals such as flashing color like the white tail deer flashing his white tail or the different primates, apes, and monkeys who use color a lot in communication. There are myriad of ways for all animals to communicate as they socialize. Very few animals go their own way and do not socialize.

Humpback whales emit a beautiful song underwater to communicate to other whales. Killer Whales do this too, but at a higher pitch. Sperm Whales are believed to communicate through clicks. Bees do some type of dance in the hive to communicate where the location of food is. Wolves communicate with a tail up or down, body language, and scent markings. Squid communicate by changing color.

Animals communicate through various calls and body language. They have alarm calls, greeting calls, mating calls, grooming, and just eye movements. Scents are also a way the communicate. Some animals actually have a more complex communication than perhaps humans (IE whales, dolphins and surprisingly enough squid)...

God has given everything or every breathing living creation on this earth a way of comunicating with their own kind and that is just one of the things that makes him such a loveing God. You can learn more from The Bible than you can by getting some people to make stupid remarks that do not make since. Most of the answers to your question so far are pretty good ones but don't listen to some of them they are just showing off.

They cannot "talk" like us because they do not have vocal chords and a voice box like we do.
Other animals do emit noises to communicate with each other, and each species of animals all have their own languages of grunts, growls, hoots, buck-bucks, meows, bow-wows, oink-oinks, whistes, squeaks, and body language to communicate with each other and with other species on this planet.

Recently, it was discovered that dolphins each have their own individual name in the form of beeps, clicks, etc. Each young dolphin develops their own name, and then thats what the other dolphins use to call them or get their attention. Just because you can't understand them, doesn't mean they don't talk.
