... enjoyed any economic security? In the 20th Century, has there been a Central or S. American country that hasn't had a violent revolution or an oppressive dictator? Are there any S. or Central American countries that has any sort of middle class (like a country where 90% of the people aren't dirt poor, with a tiny handful of rich people)?
I'm not trying to bag on them, I'm just curious. If the answer is "no," why do you think that is?

NO!!! Their governments are corrupt and have been dictatorships and it is not caused by the Bush or American governments.

Costa Rica is doing pretty well; they haven't had an army in years; they are very protective of women and children, which is a mark of civility; and they haven't had serious civil unrest for a long while. The people are not well off but they have enough to get by. Children seem to be clean and well dressed.

Right now Chile is getting rich off of copper and lack enough workers to mine the copper. The president of Chile recently said Chile might have too much money now.

Brazil makes aircraft and provides 25% of the world's food supply.

Venezuela is getting rich off their oil supplies. They are the only country in the Americas that belongs in OPEC.
