It seems sort-of communist to me, kids repeating something about their country at the beginning of every school day. What is the point? Do people think they'll forget they live in America or something?

Probably to make you attached stronger to your homeland.

Do kids still say the pledge of allegiance in school? Yes, if they don't, they will be missing out on that feeling of being a part of something bigger than themselves. Thats the same thing that they are missing out on when they don't have religion in their lives. And that lack of being a part of something bigger is one of the fundamental reasons that kids do drugs, consume alcohol and join gangs.
Why are you taking a four day weekend to enjoy the Fouth of July holiday? We don't need to celebrate, do you think people will forget that they live in the greatest country on the planet?

I can see it now, the left is going to take a fine toothed comb through the constitution and see if they can't have that silly ol flag removed from schools and stop teaching the kids the pledge.

Man, if you don't like it here, get the hell out.
