1st the woman has to be producing the milk. The child does what is called suckling (rubs the nipple with their gums while sucking on it). It is the same process as feeding with a bottle only with a woman's breast.

type "breastfeeding" on a google search for a more detailed answer.

The breasts are composed of fatty tissue and mammary glands. These mammary glands are just like all other bodily glands as they produce a fluid. Obviously the fluid is breast milk. When nursing begins the suckling sends a message to the brain to release the milk... let down reflex... and then out it flows. Best wishes

There are glands inside the breat itself that produces milk when the pregnancy hormones start to kick in. Then, when the baby is sucking or the pump is pumping, the milk comes out of the nipple.
