Freedom is wonderful for most, wasted by others and dangerous for some.

Freedom should be earned and rewarded and absolutely limited. After all total freedom is anarchy.
The Bill of Rights (freedom's limits), which are understood by some, applies to everyone (earned or unearned) if simply born inside a political boundary. Many undeserving individuals take freedom's advantages and never give back. Other's take freedom's advantages and destroy.

It's time that freedom be earned and respected. Freedom and citizenship should be revoked for career criminals, child molesters, gang members and those that never give back to society but always take, take, and take again. Those that provide for others (teachers, firefighters, artisans, professionals, tax payers, community service givers etc. etc. should be rewarded with all that possibly can be afforded those that are truly free and protected from those that when given freedom are oblivious to their lethargy and especially those that are destructive to a free society.

well I'd have to say I agree because freedom is not owned, and hence cannot be given, though our freedom can be taken away; it can be taken and taken back. I cannot delegate a right to another which I do not possess and I have no right to take your freedom, so I cannot give that right away to a "representative", our governments however have seen fit to whittle our freedoms away anyway, those freedoms are neither theirs to give or take.

What a great question! It seems that if you must take your freedom, you are not free. I think true freedom is something that is not taken or given, but self-assumed.

agree. humans or americans at least are born with freedoms that can be taken away from the government. in a perfect society, laws would not exist.

you have to fight everyday for your freedoms and right, nothing in the world is giving to you, everything must be fought for. now that fighting doesn't always have to be physical battle, it can me mental, legal, economic, or any other numbers of ways.

If you believe freedom is given, go visit Arlington, then tell me its given and not taken.

the price of freedom is eternal vigilance. ~Thomas Jefferson

Disagree, on any scale, whether it be national freedom, personal freedom or financial freedom, they are all EARNED, not given to or taken from. I will explain, the US wasnt given freedom by anyone, we earned it by gaining independance. Hard workers are given freedom by their employers, they earn financial freedom by putting in long hours and hard labor, my kids arent given freedom by me, they earn it by doing their homework or doing their chores.
So the bottom line is disagree, freedom is earned!

there is no freedom per se. its taken away from us everyday by the government, states and cities. you have the freedom to cose they say. but the choices given to you are theirs. you have the freedom of speech, but your opposed. freedom is to do what you want, where you want, why you want anytime you want without any interferance from anything or anyone.
