I would suggest mentioning something that you and the interviewer talked about in the interview. This generally works for me. They want to see if you are paying attention during the interview and be sure to show enthusiasm for the job if you really do want it. Say something like "You mentioned that teamwork is important in this job. That's great because I believe a positive team atmosphere is essential. I, myself, have worked effectively in teams. (if you did not mention it in the interview)". All interviewed candidates are qualified and you want to separate yourself from the pack.
Be sure to followup in a week if there is no response, say something like "my phone and PC skills are quite advanced and I feel I would readily contribute as a Administrative Assistant. Please let me know if you need any additional information. I am very much interested in the position."
As for the previous poster, doing an thank you note is NOT degrading..it is merely being polite...you can do this without brown nosing alright. I have interviewed candidates myself..and yes..and if it were between two candidates who are of equal qualifications..I would most definitely pick the one who sent me a thank you note.
Good luck.

if hired,i will do my best to help the company advanced and do my job to the best of my ability. i am a team player,a go-getter,a hard worker, and i am easy to get along with. It would be an honor to work for your fine company and if i had a chance to prove my worth, you will not be disappointed.
sound good to you?you can change the words around a bit,if you like.
remember to say that you are hard working person, you'll do a good job, your a team-player,easy to get along with, etc.
tell them what they want to here. check your spelling and etc before you send the letter. send a letter not an email. looks more professional. tell them thank you for their time and that you'll check back on them. address the letter dear sir or madam.
good luck.

CORPORATE RULE NUMBER 213 -
NEVER and I repeat NEVER write a thank-you email for an job interview. WHY?
#1- it's disrespectful, it shows that you think printing it and buying a stamp is a waste of money.
#2- it shows you're really desperate for either:
---------------A----a reply
---------------B----a job
---------------C----interaction / relationship
#3- you degrade yourself by doing so; you send a thank you letter/card for a gift, for someone who accepted your invitation to a party/gathering, etc... NOT for someone who interviewed you. If they interviewed you, THEY should send you the "thank you for coming to the interview" letter; keep in mind THEY NEED THE WORKER (you also need the job, but don't make yourself seem desperate)
plenty of rules you need to know in the bizznUz world, this is just the start. but do yourself a favor, don't degrade yourself, don't make yourself seem desperate, and be confident.
besides if this was a worth company, you'll get a phone call or a letter in at least one week, either thanking you and denying you the job, or thanking you and offering you the job. (hopefully its the second ;) .. )

Tell them why you think you would enjoy working there and how you could utilize your skills to their advantage. Offer to answer any further questions they might have by calling you at their convenience. (Make sure you have a pleasant sounding greeting in case they have to leave a voice message for you.) Keep your email concise...they're busy, so they'll appreciate that your follow up took that into consideration. Good luck!
