I am laughing as I write a response because I have wondered the same thing my entire life!!!! I am 45 and have been wearing mascara since I was about 13 or 14 (of course the earlier years it was in secret behind my Moms back...Ha)
I do not think it is very easily possible to apply with out opening your mouth....it's just not natural! It happens all by itself just like your eyes closing when you sneeze!
Thank you for giving me a chuckle! I loved your question!!!!Cheers!

Sometimes I notice my mouth open while I put it on too...I think I am just focusing on not getting it all over :) Sure, it doesnt hurt anything. Now I have a question : Why does my pinky stick out when I drink a cup of coffee? :)

I don't really pay attention to that, when I'm applying makeup, I am usually in a hurry. So i don't notice whether my mouth is open or not.

I usually put it on with my mouth closed but i only wear it like once in a while because i have naturally thick & long lashes. I have like every color mascara.

I like this question! I think about it whenever I apply mascera. I always have my mouth open in the shape of an "O," and raise my eyebrows. I probably look pretty awful while doing that.

Yes I can. I noticed it one day and it really bothered me so I practiced very hard at keeping my mouth shut, now I don't even think about it.

Because it's a subconscious adjustment. When you open your mouth it stretches your eyes so that way you get better coverage. I read it in Cosmo. EVERY woman does it.
