I was 13, it was the first time I ever went to a fireworks show,... I mean I was a hick child, lol, we lit off the good stuff in my backyard every year, but that still didn't prepare me for the splendor and huge bangs of fireworks shot off plateaus in the water.
On the way there (My Uncle, me and two female cousins), kept hearing reports of rain. I was so excited about about the fireworks that the thought of rain sounded like my world was closing in. Me and my cousins devised a plan, from about 30 miles away from where we were going to view the fireworks we decided that if we made a wish of no rain and blew it into our hands closing them tightly afterwards. That all we had to do was hold that wish there until we arrived at the fair grounds,...and release it there, it'd fly into the clouds, and the rain would not start.
Our hands were so cramped by the time that we got there,...lol But excitedly we released our wishes staring into the sky like we could see them rise into the heavens like a note being delivered to a deity.
Low and behold it did not rain, I got my first kiss later that night,...spent several trips on the pirate ship, and ate hot dogs till I nearly got sick. When the fire works started I seen the most beautiful display I had seen up to that tender age of mans ingenuity,... It really was a magical night, not just a magical 4th of July.
Life is so beautiful when we are young, it's then we really do appreciate the small miracles like a rain storm passing over quietly,...
Hope that's what you were looking for.

The first year that they had fireworks at Warner Center park in Woodland Hills, CA, they didnt really know how to keep people safe. Nothing actually went wrong, but they sectioned off a portion of the park to launch the fireworks. It must have been really great from the park view as they went off very near the ground. They actually went off about 10 stories off the ground. Imagine those same big fireworks exploding 10 stories off the ground!
Well, we were lucky enough to think to watch the fireworks from the parking garage right next to the park, the 5 story parking garage! These fireworks literally were set off at eye level, some 50 yards away from us! It was unbelievable! Best 4th ever!
