According to the most respected scientist who actully work in the field of global ecology the main reason for warmer temperatures is an increase in solar output. As to the hole in our atmosphere, there is a hole in the ozone layer (this helps filter ultraviolet radiation) above the arctic.
The "scientists" in Al Gore's movie have been largely debunked due to the fact that the ones that aren't profiting from getting the answers that were wanted are not even trained in the field of environmental studies.

There is a hole twice the size of the United States over Antartica and the burning of fossil fuels is making it even bigger and the ozone that is intact over the rest of the world is trapping greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere.
