Forget Bobo! The limes are indeed limes, unless they have been conjured from lemons. Just harvest them when ripe, and enjoy. If you do not have noticable pests, who damage the fruit itself, do not spray. A little herbicidal soap solution to make it harder for insects to stay would be in order. The key is, when fruit is near ready to eat, do not spray.
Good luck

If they are indeed limes, they're probably edible. I wouldn't eat them though, the owner before you could have sprayed a systemic insecticide on the tree to kill insects. Any systemic spray would be inside the fruit. Even some non-systemic sprays could prove quite lethal if injested.

Go to a grocery store and squeeze a lime or lemon there. When you squeeze one of the limes on your tree it should feel the same. We have our own lime tree, even if you pick them a little early they are okay to eat.

All limes are edible. I'd make sure it's a lime first, though.

If the fruit isn't ripe yet, it will be hard like a rock. Ripe fruit will feel soft (but not mushy).
