Bacteria, oil, dirt...and to an extent body chemistry. Acne is "pus", Oil forms in a pore, the dirt (pollution, dust, etc) in the air mixes with that, then bacteria makes that infected and acne results. Frequent washing followed by an astringent that removes excess oils can help, as for "body chemistry" a change of dietary habits may need to be done.

The most possible cause will be the skin pores are clogged by excess sebum (oil). Other factor will be due to the food intake, personal cleanliness, hormones changes or skin infection
