In my accord the green light flashes on and off then quits but when it is flashing car skip gears when its not flashing runs great. just does it every now and then while driving it. then the check engine light also comes on after a while when light is flashing what could this be or how can I fix it. the car is for my son that needs a little tlc (first car) or is it worth fixing.

YOU CAN CHECK THE COMPUTER FOR A STORED CODE. PULL BACK THE CARPET ON THE PASS. SIDE FLOOR BOARD, UNDER THE DASH. IT SHOULD HAVE A RED L.E.D. LIGHT ON TOP OF THE COMPUTER. IF IT FLASHES A CODE WITH THE IGN. ON THEN YOU CAN MATCH IT UP TO A HAYNES BOOK. YES, IT IS WORTH FIXING THOSE ARE GOOD CARS!!!

Sounds like an electric switch on the tranny. It controls the shifting. Sounds like a loose wire leading to the switch. Have Auto Zone put it on their computer and it should tell you exactly which one it is.
