Government Issue. GI Joe was a famous pigeon who saved thousands of lives in Italy during WW 2. This pigeon was sent out by the British to the American Allied troops to state that they had taken the town. The American Troops engaged the enemy and saved the town which was occupied by the British troops. The message was delivered by GI JOE the pigeon.
