PC because many of the fun programs (business and personal) are formatted for PC before Mac (if ever) and often times when new products are released they too are available quicker/sooner to PC than Mac.

The PC has its problems, but 90% of the world use it and 90% of the third party software is written for the PC. Of course 99% of the viruses are written for PCs, but since most of the viruses are written by kids a simple anti virus program will kill almost all the viruses. Windows is full of bugs, but they are ironing it out. If you know computers real well then get Linux and run it on your PC.
Mac is good, and the current version runs quickly (maybe more quickly then a PC, but that will change in the next computer generation). When you get a Mac you get what the company sends you, you can't modify it, or install the latest hardware. And when it is time to upgrade you need a new machine. With competition the prices tend to be lower for PCs, not for Macs.
Running a Mac is like driving a car that uses hydrogen. It is better, but where are you going to get fuel. PCs are like cars that run on gas, and you can find fuel anywhere.

I think it depends on what you plan to use the computer for.
Macs are best used for high graphical use/multimedia production and can do almost anything.
PC's are cost-productive/economical units with the ability to do almost anything; depending upon the hardware inside.
Some Example:
A person who just uses a computer for Internet, typing documents, playing a game or two would suffice with a standard PC.
A user that needs a high-end processor for advanced graphical work, calculations, video production, etc. would benefit from the hardware power of a Mac or a custom built PC with high-end hardware.
So, to answer the question, it really depends on what one uses the computer for. The better/faster the hardware, the better the computer! I suggest one reads the specs of the computer versus what the flashy-looking case or advertising hype may promote.

Comparing PC to MAC is like comparing Home cooked food to Convience store microwaved burger. The personal computer is vastly different as it can be used on hundred of applications. A MAC is good for two things. Graphics and the trash can. So unless you are in the market for awesome graphic designing programs and a host of web design, picture plotting and CG effects, then it's a waste of hard earned money. You can do anything with a PC. Programming, video games, music editing, applications for just about everything and yes graphics(although not as easy or as well tuned). Your friend has obviously never used a pc, and is probably brain washed by the shiny little apple on his non upgradable piece of trash that should only be used as a paperweight. Just my two cents and thanks for the two points.

I think it honestly depends on the person. If you dont plan on gaming and you need something that is artistic and simple then you go with mac. Mac will not allow you to upgrade your system nor will many of the games run on it. If you are a hardcore gamer and you plan on upgrading your system then you must go with PC. Mac is for those who dont need power and crave stability. PC is for the power hungry who can handle a crash or two when the chips are down. I personally would go with PC myself...but I am a computer technician...and somewhat biast.

MAC without a doubt. And thats coming from someone who used to build their own pcs...
- No virus protection software necessary
- No viruses ... EVER
- No reboots
- No drivers
- Everything is plug and play
- Can run windows software
- Protools/Photoshop/etc users in the music and entertainment industry laugh at pc users. It's a mac-only industry.
- Customer support is great, but I don't know from personal experience cuz i never needed it.
- can run it all day every day and never shut down with no problems...
I could keep going if youd like...

Well, although I have worked with pcs longer and know more about them, I prefer a mac. Macs are generally better for picture quality, but pcs are typically more user friendly. I got my ibook because me mom couldn't figure the thing out. Yay for me! But yeah, I prefer macs.
