My parents never really gave me "the talk", but I read about sex and puberty quite a bit after my first introduction to the topic in fifth grade by the infamous video. If it helps any, they did give my sister the talk when she was ten going on eleven. That's about the right age for girls I think. For guys, I have no idea, but it's probably about the same time frame. By then you're mature enough to take things seriously and not be all grossed out.

I WAS SEVENTEEN, AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTED BY THREE MEN,,
THEN MY PARENTS TALKED ABOUT IT EVERY DAY WHEN THE GUYS WERE CAUGHT AND HAD A TRIAL..
I THINK PARENTS SHOULD TALK ABOUT SEX AT THE EARLIEST TIME AVAILABLE WITH KIDS, KIDS ARE SO SMART , THEY LEARN FAST, THEY CAN LEARN THINGS THE RIGHT WAY, AND HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF SEX, SEXUALITY, LIFE, AND WHERE IT ALL FITS IN SOCIETY,, THIS CAN ENABLE THEM TO CLEARLY UNDERSTAND SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT BE TABOO, OR SECRET, OR LIMITED,
ALL THE SECRETS, SHAME, ETC ARE UNNECESSARY,, AND I DO BELIEVE WE WOULD HAVE LESS PERVERTS, AND MOLESTERS, IF THEY WERE TAUGHT ABOUT SEX, AND LIFES FANTASTIC CREATION, AS WELL AS LOVE AND INTIMACY-- INSTEAD OF HAVING IT A NO NO-- THEN KIDS GO LEARN THE THIINGS THAT WERE NOT BAD ANYWAY BUT UNFORTUNATELY LEARN WITH SHAME, AND GET WIERD, AND PASS IT DOWN,, I AM NOT WIERD ANYMORE,,,

My parents never actually talked to me about it.. i just knew for as long as i can remember. I have five brothers and sisters all older, the oldest one ten years older than me. They probably had a talk with the oldest one but when i was growing up i heard about it a lot from my family talking and things i wasn't sure about i'd just ask my parents (we're VERY open) or just check on the internet. ♥

Well my mom and I have always had a very open communication level and when I started menstruating my mother told me about having sex and leading to STDs and pregnancy. But my in-laws are still uneasy even mentioning sex in any way around their kids, which is funny to me because my household was always so open and liberal.

Here's how my sex talk went down. I was 15 and my brother 13. (wayyy too late...) My dad called us into the kitchen and sat us down and said, word for word:
"You know those things you got between your legs? Be careful with them"
Thats it. Birds and the bees. At 15 years of age....
