Why do girls return to abusive relationships?

I'll tell you why I go back everytime.....I'm scared to be alone...He as messed with my head enough to have me thinking that way when we fight.... The main reason is that I'm scared what he would do to my family or me if I leave...I don't want anyone else to get hurt the way I do so if i stay with him he can't hurt anyone else but me...I made my bed and now i have to sleep in it...

Because in an abusive relationship--whether physical or verbal (or both), they are insecure with themselves with the person. They convince themselves that "it's not that bad.... he/she will change." The abuser is often manipulative and will use their strengths to convince the person they are changing and that they care... Often times the situation is hard for the one taking the abuse to leave--sometimes they can't afford it financially, socially, or maybe they have kids that they think require both parents to be there--abusive or nonabusive. There are alot of factors that go into why someone would return to an abusive relationship.... But if you're in one, get out...

There is a emotional attachment in an abusive relationship that is hard to find in a non-abusive relationship. When an abusive man is apologizing he will do anything to get you back. Most men don't go that far for a woman. It is really a self esteem issue and these women feel that if they are worth chasing after that makes them special.

Girls don't want a sissy boy. Girls want a man that's tough and couragous. So, to ignorant girls..Abusive relationships mean that the man is couragous and tough if he can hit them..then he can hit anybody.

They feel as if leaving will hurt the man somehow.
They feel the man will change in time.
Many times they cannot support themselves.
Many times they are threated by the abuser.

It is such a sad state, and the saddest of all, this travesty repeats itself in the children born from such an unholy union.
