Hi All,

I am trying to conceive another baby, my first was born 10/29/05. I have been charting my cycles for a couple months now, here is the link to my most recent chart and the one before

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/d68d3

The chart from last month was a very out of normal cycle for me, usually I have 30-31 day cycles. After having my daughter I have had 2 30 day cycles followed by 2 25 day cycles followed by a 30 day cycle and then the weird 37 day cycle. Now this month I started using OPK's. On CD17 I got a positive and with that came the ovulation pains, temp shift to indicate Ovulation, high and soft cervical position as well as fertile cervical mucus. Now today on CD20 I got another positive OPK with no ovulation indication at all. I have had 3 days of high temps that do indicate ovulation on CD17, can I get a positive OPK after ovulation just do to natural LH patterns?? Thanks!

Tough question, so I looked it up for you on the FertilityPlus website. Here's what they had to say:

Q: I had a positive LH surge, but tested again the following day anyway. It was positive again! What does that mean?

A: This isn't a problem. You may have caught your surge on its way up and on the way down. It is more common to only get one day of positive testing, but it is not uncommon to have two days of a positive tests. Even three days isn't uncommon, but it is worth consulting a doctor in case you have high LH levels.

According to that, I'm guessing what you are experiencing is normal, and that you caught your LH surge on it's way up, just before you ovulated, and on it's way down, just after you ovulated. It is only possible to ovulate once each cycle.

I'm going to include the link to a trying to conceive forum that I think you might find useful. It's full of supportive women with boundless knowledge about these issues. I learnt so much there that I doubt I would have learnt otherwise.

I think there is a place on fertilityfriend where you can ask them to review your chart and give you ideas..if you are a paying member I think. I started doing it for two days and suddenly realised it was too much like hard work..taking temps, worring about cm, if the cervix is high or low etc..I could see where it could become an obsessive/neurotic sort of thing and getting pg is supposed to happen without all that worry. I have decided just to let nature take its course. Your body has already done it once and should know how to again. Enjoy your little one. Sticky baby dust to you.
